Some Bob Williamson posts.

One for Stacey.
One for the ProdSports fans.
Ross Donelly in the Jag followed by Steve Webb in the Nagari. Steve still carries the no.22 today.
Here's another one with Ross Bond in the picture.

Philosophical.

Don't feel bad about your welding.

This is a 917 chassis.
Here's a scary thought; the Porsche 917, which won Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time in 1970, was capable of a top speed of 390km/h. And this is what its space-frame chassis looks like in the flesh.

The bare chassis with no attachments weighs just 42kg.

Some non-Bolwell anecdotes from McLaren Vale.

3 TVRs, all different models.
Variations on a theme. The first 2 photos are of  Chris Westren's car that he painstakingly built over a number of years from a DRB basic kit. The second 2 pictures are of a GT straight out of the Ford factory which could be had for 2 or 3 hundred thousand dollars. The proportions are different, it's longer, wider and higher at 44 inches. It would have to be called a GT44. Ford solved that problem by calling it a Ford GT.

A couple of clubbies in our group. The first is the now familiar ASP and the other is a Clemente of course. No, it's not Norm's, he motored down in the air-conditioned comfort of that Mercedes. This one is a darker blue than his.
A growing number of these although they didn't quite outnumber the Bollies.

Forget the 6-wheelers.

Here's an 8-wheeler.
That should get up Collingrove fairly quickly.

Sporting Car Club visit.

Last Wednesday night we were invited to the Sporting Car Club's general meeting. We had 3 Bollies on the stage, Dino's, Greg's and Garry's.
Garry gave an excellent talk, touching on Bolwell history, Bolwell racing anecdotes and detailed descriptions of the 3 cars presented. This went down very well with the audience, so much so that at least 2 people asked for a copy of his speech.

Mt. Alma

Ross Allen entered his Westfield at Mt. Alma this year where he came second in the Clubbie class. Here's some of his photos.
This is actual outright winner, Kevin Mackrell having a shower. Of the 11 Mt. Alma hillclimbs Kevin has won 7 of them in this monster.

No trailers here.

Dick's old Milano GT for sale in UK.

Description:

This Milano GT was built in 1964 by its first owner, Dick Willis (due to sales tax all Milanos were sold to their first owners in kit form). Willis campaigned the car extensively in Australia up to 1967, predominantly in the New South Wales Hillclimb Championship, in which he finished 2nd to the famous Ron Thorpe Cobra in 1965. The car was the first to have a 3-litre Holden straight 6 fitted, which today is tuned to produce 250 bhp. Indeed it is believed to be the only car to run the Holden 3-litre before 1966. This car was brought to the UK in 2012 and gradually restored to the specification as run by Dick Willis in period.
This involved fresh paint, rebuilding the suspension, fitting a new fuel tank, roll cage, seatbelts and fire extinguisher amongst other items. The car weighs just 750kg and therefore has rapid acceleration.
Now for sale due to changing plans. An ideal car for various historic racing categories
Now, if this red Milano GT raced by Mike Eagles is not the same car, then there are 3 Mk.1 Milano GTs that have gone over to the UK.

So, how did our Elfin mates go at PI?

Trevor Lambert in the ME5...
.....and Steve Webb in the 360 Brabham.....
usually seem to be evenly matched and I love to see the 2 of them battling it out together. It didn't quite work out that way this time. Steve's car ran like clockwork at or near the front while Trevor's exuberance delivered gearbox problems.

Meanwhile, Mark Goldsmith circulated mid-field, clocking up the miles as he comes to grips with his Elfin 400 after a long and comprehensive restoration, much like Ken Stratton with the Tiga.
The car was last raced in 1978. I guess this was the last time it raced.

On another note, this Pantera ran very well for a first-timer, up at the front with Steve.
...and there's no show without Larry and Saggy.
