Mystery Mark 7

Have you seen Peter's comment on the post titled "Army Types". The first picture wasn't Macca at all and on closer examination it appears the car is drag racing. So now the question is : what and whose car is this? Pete has come up with a magazine photo of the car in question.
He says -

"I have what I think is another photo of that mystery Mk7, I think it was from Drags at Fishermans bend(?). Ron Mac couldn't remember anyone being so uncouth as to paint a narrow black stripe down the centre of a Mk7, he can't recall the car either, it's possibly not Holden powered, given the right hand scoop ... any ideas?"
It could be a Falcon 6, they had the inlet side on the right.

I knew of at least one Falcon 6 powered Mark 7 in Victoria. It may be my fuzzy memory but I also seem to recall that it was supercharged as well.

The rail is from South Australia and is a straight 8 built and raced by Jeff During

The VW in the background is also a Crow Eater - Ken Virgin which would suggest the meeting was a Nationals Event in maybe 1966 or 1967 possible as late as 1968.

And yes at Riverside

PT, and I checked out a TR4 powered Mk 7 in Malvern or Glen Iris back in the 1970's and the Triumph motor would have required a scoop on that side of the car

The Mk 7 could also have been powered by a sideplate Holden (Grey motor) fitted with a Repco Hi Power head with downdraught Webers which would require a scoop in that position but the exhaust system in the previous blog suggests Pommie 4 cylinder as exits down wrong side of motor for a repco headed grey motor. Outlaw Speed Shop old Brooksfield drag photos show Ken Virgins VW in that Uniroyal sponsorship in 1968 and I have pics of Jeff Durings 8 cylinder rail using a very similar frame to the pictured Rex Brown Zephyr rail frame in 1967 while I also have pics of Rex Brown's rail with a modern (for it's era) new chassis at the 1970 Drag Nationals in Qld. Rodsports and Drag Racing News Magazine covering the 1968 events is archived in the Australian National Library but unfortunately not in their digital collection which means can only be read in person at the Library. John could the Mk 7 have come from anywhere else and only been in Vic for that event?

We should be asking Henry. He took the actual photo.
