Progress report no.4 (engine mounts) - Matt Jenkins

It is great to have some outside interest and motivation. As you would know not many people know Bolwells.
Anybody who looks at my car can only see an 'old car shell' and I have had comments like "haven't you even painted it yet?" and "it looks like it did when you started"........
Anyway, you will like the engine mounts. The engine is mounted from the front to allow extractors to fit.
As you would know, modifying is great, but there are always unforeseen problems to overcome. Note the way we made an allowance for the steering shaft after the driver's side mount was made. Ahh...the joys of having a mate with a CNC mill!

With these long term projects it is common to get to the stage where you have the feeling that you have worked night after night for all this time and "just take a look", you still just have this pile of bits and what looks like nothing much has changed. Then, as things get assembled and added to the car you suddenly have this transformation and the lows change to highs as you watch it coming together.

With a number of Nagari restorations the front engine plate is becoming the way to mount the engine and is very successful and worth considering by those people in the future who are wanting to comfortably fit extractors.

I had the pleasure yesterday catching up with Gary A at the Healey Factory, unfortunately I couldn't see Ross McC as he retired 2 weeks ago.
Matt your build is very impressive, it's great to see lots of photos and info re the construction. Well done.
I am perplexed when I look in the engine bays of obviously well constructed cars to see the Holden front crossmember, I haven't yet seen anyone use one of the manufactured Street Rod tubular crossmember, is it a case of these parts being too expensive, don't work as well as they look or no one has yet thought of using these components?
