Letting it all hang out.

Since I bought the new trailer over 12 months ago, I have done a lot of detail work on it to make it more user friendly. I perhaps should do an update on what I have done, and what I should have done or anyone interested

I paid the rego renewal before I drove the car for the first time (though I did transport it around a few times), which is rather depressing., but one of the features of this trailer is that it allows me to load up and keep everything ready to hook up to the car in advance.

Here is the rig, loaded up ready for Winton this Friday and Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By chance anyone interested in making the trip give me a call first in case I end up back at home early!

KM300

KM300s are a bit thin on the ground these days. This is what one looks like.

Going back a few years I went to have a look at what might be called a "shed find" on a farm just out of Truro. This particular sports car was owned donkeys years ago by a bloke who just happened to ditch his ultra-light into St. Vincents Gulf and was never sighted again, except by sharks perhaps. His daughter inherited what he had told her was a Mark 4 Bolwell. When she was a kid she remembers driving it up and down the drive in Adelaide. The car went with her to live on a farm when she grew up and was stuck away in one of the sheds. It turned out to be a KM300. I'm sure it's still there. I took a few photos at the time. Here are some of them.

It had a Vanguard engine, a 4-speed box of some sort and the rear trailing arms were FJ Holden front wishbones turned around sideways.

KM200

Not much seems to be said about Keith Morrison's KM sports cars. I just noticed Mike McCarthy even left them out of the Australian Sports Cars and Specials publication. It must surely have been an oversight. Strewth, he built 27 KM200s and 8 KM300s. From time to time some of the older guys reminisce on the forum about Valentine's KM200/Ford that was pretty quick and ran at Amaroo and Oran Park and lo and behold Lynton H produced a photo of the car at practice at Amaroo on 1/8/1970.

I've heard that it's being restored in Queensland.
Also in Queensland is this road going one that there's been the odd magazine article about.

There's even a you tube video of it which you can find on the NSW BCCA website.
Here's an ad that used to appear in SCW in 1957/58.

Kapunda - week 33

Here he's doing his bit on Brazilian TV in Portugese. I didn't understand a word.

....and this is Stefan in his first year at McLaren after being Michele's no.2 at Ferrari. The poor bugger was merely keeping the seat warm for Ayrton who joined McLaren the following year.

Around our way at least, there's still a number of Brumbies, including a targa roofed example. Over in the US they're called Brats. Here's a couple of examples.

The jump seats, including seat belts , in the back, were a popular option over there. Not even a consideration here. There would have been legal reasons for that.
