Talking about utes.

A Lada Niva ute. Never seen in Australia. Not even in Russia. Canada's the spot. They were made there from CKD Lada bits with custom built ute backs on them.

Im pretty sure they were made here, cut down from standard sedans.

I remember seeing a green on at the Sydney Motor Show. I may well be wrong, but I think Peter Brock may have had something to do with the importing and modification of them. I do remember it was an Australian modified car.

Niva utes were offered here, but as far as I can tell, in cab/chassis form only. I have an Aussie market brochure. The 'styleside' model pictured may be Canada only.

To the best of my knowledge, Brock only modified Samara hatches (body kit and suspension tweaks) when they first arrived (1988-ish), but then cut his ties with Lada...unsurprisingly.
