I must admit I hadn't thought too much about the Bocar until I noticed this black one on eBay last month. It is a 1959 XP-5 and they look pretty neat for 1959.
The usual powerplant was the 283-cid Corvette V8.
Here's an ad for the 1959 XP-5.
And this is the factory in Colorado where they were built.
Here's a very basic one.
This is a 1958 Bocar XP-4 at a concours.
And this is a 1959 Bocar XP-5.
This is a Bocar racing in the United States in 1960 without the oversteer of the Corvette.
The Bocar was a limited production sports car built between 1958 and 1961, developed by BOb CARnes in Colorado, US. There was an X-1, an X-2 and X-3, about 5 XP-4s, 15 XP-5s followed by XP-6, XP-7s and the supercharged XP-7R. An XP-5 raced by Art Huttinger in the first televised Daytona race in January 1960. The car was placed second to the D-Type Jaguar of Ed Rahal. It went on to set a speed record of 175 mph (282 Km/h) on the beach of Daytona.

1 bid, $225,000 US. Reserve not met.
There was a Blue and Silver version that did the Aussie Historics circuit a few years ago, unfortunately I didn't actually see it, but it looked a beast in the photos.
