Nice looking car, seems fairly complete, buy it now price seems a bit over the top but who am I to say?
I'm not trying to be controversial but I'm questioning whether that's a Buchanan body.

$35k? That buys a Concours 47 TC. A stuffed old special? Why so many old specials simply disappear as Its dross but he thinks it's gold. Guess they are on drugs. Researched so well he cannot even spell Buchanan's name correctly. More bullshit different day.
I agree JL thats not a Buchanan. Col
That is definitely not a DB3S type Buchanan, John. I'm very familiar with the shape. Don Elliott made a mould for one for Royce and I assisted with some of the laminating.
I subsequently made at least three bodies and fitted one maybe two to MGA chassis (excellent match, btw)
I thought at first the car in the pictures might have been a modified Buchanan but closer looking tells me there are way too many differences.
It's strange because I was thinking today about a Buchanan you featured two or three years ago on the blog here. Someone had restored a Buchanan as a DB3S replica and did a magnificent job of it.He painted it in an Aston Martin metallic green which topped it off beautifully. Do you or anyone else reading this know the particular green he used?
Thanks,
Jim Shanahan
Recon its a Buchanan middle section with KM200 rear from the wheel arch and KM200 front nose and headlight grafted on. windscreen reminds me of a particular Mk4b John that is now long gone.....
I think Anonymous @ 11:33pm is correct. The doors are the same shape as the Buchanan 'DB3S' as are the scuttle cowls which appear to be slightly asymmetrical as the Buchanan's are.
Not a Buchanan but a KM body. Windscreen identical to this one http://www.bolwellcarclubnsw.com/page24.htm Doors are nothing like a Buchanans.

It's not a KM either...rear is too bulbous, bonnet and nose different, doors longer...someone's cut out the front arch to make it look like a Buchanan, but probably just a special.
Doors are nothing like a Buchanans.
That's the way I remember them but willing to be wrong, Roo. Can you explain how they are different to you?
Just compared it to my Buchanan this arvo. Only bit similar is the side scullops but only similar, not the same. From memory a km300 had the more bubulous rear.....
JL in your blog from a few years ago you had an advertisement for KM sports cars from SCW in 56/57. This car looks just like the KM300 illustrated in the advert.
Only thing really different is the Buchanan like curved dash tops. Col
Definitely not a KM, comparing it to the pictures I've seen on this site and others...stake my life on it. Aside from the scallop (which could have been added later), rear and nose are quite different to this car.
Must be a rare SB MK 1
not sure re km200/km300. has same windscreen as those supplied on this one. I know that there where plenty of cars that left any of these "factories'(J&S included) that if a customer wanted something slightly different they would oblige as money coming in was what they needed.seems the closest so far. other possibility id that a local copied and produced a one off.
Jim the doors on the Buchanan have sharp corners at the bottom. Also the inner frames are different.
Yes. Thanks, Roo.
