Holden coupes.

Of all the custom coupes, I reckon this has to be one of the very nicest, and no, it's not made from a ute.

And after almost 60 years, they still keep coming out of the woodwork, like this one that turned up at that big show at Orange the other week. It was begun 55 years ago and still has a way to go.

A few different models.

It's not often you get a collection of more than 2 or 3 different models together at any one time but this one was orchestrated. An owner of a Mk.4, Mk.5, Mk.7, Nagari coupe and a Nagari sports were invited to bring their cars to Calder for the release of the Ikara. That was a good day with a fair bit of track time in the black and blue Ikaras.

As promised.

A brief history of Soren Luckins' historic special.

"My uncle (Kerry Luckins) and father (Garnet) built the car in 1962-63 as a hillclimb special.
Kerry worked at Paul England engineering so had lots of exposure to the latest and greatest and built this car to compete himself.
It runs a supercharged 1500 hillman engine, split-case VW gearbox on a custom tubular frame, bolwell Mk4 front and custom alloy rear.
My dad made the wheel centres, uprights and a range of other magnesium components in fourth form at high school, and they raced it from 63-68 as far as I can tell.

When my uncle went to a nursing home in 2005 I collected the car and have been slowly restoring it since, with the input and guidance of Greg Smith (historic race car engineer in Melbourne).

The car is almost complete, just back from the paint shop and should have its first formal race meeting at Sandown in November, and hopefully a few test days before then.."

It's kinda like another SR6. It'd be nice to see them lined up together at Sandown (along with the Tiga). I wonder if John's coming over for that.

Remember this?

The hot little hill climber with the Mark 4 nose? Many of us have been wondering for years whatever happened to it. Well, it's been tucked away in Soren L's shed where it has been undergoing a resurrection in his spare time. The unveiling is imminent and I'm not the only one looking forward to seeing it and hearing it in action.
In a later post we might even be treated to a detailed history of the car. I can't wait for that.

A look into a shed on KI, Feb 2017.

As you can see, Steve hasn't been just sitting around the shed sipping Kangaroo Island sauvignon blanc. No, he's been a busy boy. Just a bit of wiring to do and the flying coffin will be ready for a run. That'll be fun with 2-wheel brakes. And Dinky 2 is really taking shape. Dinky 1, in the background, is well on the way as well.

Ah, down to the dark blue. I don't know where the late Peter Jones picked up that 4B body but before he turned it into this........
.......it was loaned for the purpose of taking moulds in SA and looked like this......
.......however there were time restraints. Nothing had started when it was time to return it to Victoria so there were no moulds. I don't think it even made it off the trailer.

UK news.

Justin's making wonderful progress on the Nagari. Here's a few pics from yesterday.
The dash is a work in progress. He's going for the original look from B8/1.
Note the lack of clearance between the Mustang rack and the race sump. You have to remove the rack to get the engine out.( That's not so bad, I once had a Jensen Interceptor and had to remove the engine to get at the starter motor, but as anonymous said "you've got to love English engineering").

Where do you start?
This is worse than our old Silver Shadow!

Passenger carrying drones over Dubai.

Now we know what they did with those old Bolwell flight simulators.

"Bit of a long shot".

But you just never know.

Bob G, over in Nuri (ootpa), was inspired by a recent blog post about Goggomobils to search for one. He's "looking for a Lightburn Zeta Sports or Goggo Dart or any parts for them. My dad used to have both when we were younger and I'm looking to find another one as a bit of a project as his health is starting to deteriorate."
