Kapunda - week 13
No flies on the kids at our high school. The young P-plater that brings this Chrysler to school must have sold the HSV that she had last week with the "for sale" sign on it.

Climb to the Eagle
Phil and Rita were there. Here's a few photos.
This is their Mark 7 flanked by the SS100 and the GT6.
The star attraction in my book, the Smoker family 2000GT.
Bolwell and Toyota at speed.
Phil calls this a barn find. I doubt that it was very lost.

Group A sports
I'm not usually taking photos of the back windows of ageing Falcon utes but I just wanted to show you this sticker.
The white one that is. It was designed and produced by Ran Maclurkin. He should be good at those sorts of things, he runs a tattoo shop. The plan is to get Group A back to its former glory. A great idea and it's starting to happen. Ran has one, the Dungey Lancia.......
and his brother Ashley has one of the 3 Adelaide built Noraxes. I think it was Lance's.
I hope he hasn't forsaken the 240Z.
When this class gets up and running again the boys will be emulating their dad, Ranald, who had a Matich post Bolwell.

Spot the Difference.
This is Pete's Milano MG at Victoria Park on Friday..........
......and this is a beaut little Alfa powered replica (been around for years) at the last MSCA sprint at Mallala. Any similarity is a co-incidence someone told me.

Motorclassica - This is what you're missing
For all those people who see the Motorclassica brochures and invitations each year here is what you are missing out on...........
Looks Vaguely Familiar
CHEVROLET SUPERUTE from South Africa.
South African tuning company LupiniPower has introduced its wild 535bhp Chevrolet SuperUte pick-up.
Based on the already impressive Chevy Ute SS, (sold as the Pontiac G8 in the US and the Holden Ute SS in Australia) the 535bhp 590lb.ft 6-litre supercharged V8 SuperUte is a pick-up with supercar credentials offering 4.5-second 0-100km/h acceleration, dramatic overtaking ability and elasticity. SuperUte is also more economical and greener than standard while still remaining docile, gentle and easy to drive.
Powered by a supercharged V8 similar to that found in the Corvette ZR1, SuperUte clearly is a supercar - 0-60mph acceleration of an automatic version improves from the standard Ute's already handy 6 seconds to 4.4 seconds, while 0-100mph flashes by in 9.9 seconds - almost four seconds faster than standard.
SuperUte reaches 125mph in 15.5 seconds - that's over five seconds quicker than stock, boasts a quarter-mile time of 12.7 seconds at 113mph and runs the standing kilometre in 22.8 seconds at 150mph while top speed is up 25mph to 175 mph.
SuperUte is not just all speed and power - improvements extend to bigger race-specification front disc brakes and callipers, while subtle yet effective suspension tweaks will see the Ute's already impressive handling, road holding and dynamic ability also improve without undue compromise to ride and comfort.
The TractionBar is unique SuperUte device that Lupini applies to enable the pick-up to dip well below the five-second 0-60mph-acceleration bracket.
Another vital LupiniPower aspect is the company's standard Warranty & Service Plan in its home market to ensure customer peace of mind normally lost when factory plans are voided by such aftermarket modifications. SuperUte enjoys a 5 -year Unlimited LupiniPlan Performance Warranty in South Africa.
The Lupini SuperUte comes with a striking staggered 20" wheel & tyre set-up with 8.5J front and 10J wide rear alloy wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RE050 ultra-high performance tyres, while option boxes available to be ticked include full Bilstein suspension and a limited-slip differential for the serious track day fan. Only a limited number of SuperUtes will be offered to guarantee exclusivity.
LupiniPower's Chevrolet SuperUte sells for US $91 500 (Euro 63 000, GBP58000) for a complete new vehicle in South Africa.

Shelby loses trademark battle over Cobra shape
US COURT RULES COBRA DESIGN IS NOT THE PROPERTY OF SHELBY.
Carroll Shelby has been locked in a Patent and Trademark court battle against the American replica builder, Factory Five. Had he been successful it may have worried the life out of the 200 or so different makers of Cobra replicas around the world. Anyway, he wasn't. It was deemed that the car started life as an AC Ace with a Ford engine in it. Another consideration was that "he has enjoyed huge popularity, in-part, due to replicas."
A Factory Five Mark 4.
Carroll Shelby's own 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Supersnake. Twin Paxton supercharged 427 (800bhp) with 3-speed auto. It was upgraded by Shelby himself from one of 19 production competition Cobras.
