Back home to SA, a room mate for the Donkervoort.

Smeetsy has just bought this ASP clubman.It's chassis number 2 and was built for Rob Butcher to race, after Dean Hosking beat Rob who was racing his Mk.7 Bolwell at the time.

Peter found the car in Ballarat. The owner had it for 21 years. He got all the race bits like wheels, small tank, cycle guards etc. It still has a Corolla engine. The car was recently repainted and "looks fabulous from across the road" and the engine was rebuilt properly recently. It's slightly detuned and running only one Weber but still high compression, dry sumped, cam, valves and valve springs all new.

Hi John,here is the latest  fibreglass find, Lasos no7 the last body made. It has a 70s spaceframe chassis and mk1 Cortina running gear, it has a sth aus rego history  and has been BRG ,cream and red. Dragged from a shed it is a bit rough around the edges but will make a nice project for someone.I got it as a trade  and would be happy to move it on to a new owner ,price would be subject to how much work I do to it but if anyone is interested they can either phone me on 08 85537338 or by my email rowleysteve@hotmail.com. 

Older South Australians may remember this car residing at the Shell Service Station at Brighton. It was BRG with a yellow stripe then. Lasos cars were powered by a variety of engines. I recall grey Holdens, a Morris 8, a Studebaker V8, BMC?, Cortina and Peter Bradey had a supercharged Peugeot in his.

As you can see in the 4th photo, the Mk.4 Bolwell is coming along too.

Favourite 3-wheelers No.35

This contraption turned up at the Winton Historics on the weekend. It's home made..VW motor,some Kawasaki bits, milking machine pixie for exhaust, rear of a motorbike for the back wheel etc.,VW fuel tank on its end and a lounge chair to sit on. This plaque is totally irrelevant but it looks good.

........Eyes & Crowle were Buick agents in Adelaide in the 1920s.

The Winton Historics is a Mecca for interesting pieces of machinery, like this WA made sports car, the Caversham.

I have been following the progress of a paddock find Caversham being rebuilt by members of the WA VSCC as a mens shed type project. I must check how that's going.

Pete's yellow 7 again.

Nobody could be more pleased with Peter Kordic's trophy than George May. It was George who took the car from an unfinished 6 cylinder to a chassis complete with V8 and EFI, fabricated coil over suspension, Jag rear end etc. Here's a couple of shots of the chassis when in George's care which I'm sure you'll find duplicated in a post from many years ago.

Today is auction day.

A slightly different Mk.4 chassis.

This is Kym's 4A in its glory days.
And below is a photo of the very naked chassis as Kym prepares for a comprehensive rebuild.

It has twin rollover hoops, although the left hand one has been chopped off some time in its career. None of the Mk.4 owners have seen this on any other chassis. Don Hall, who ran a successful speed shop in Perth in the 60s produced these photos taken in the Bolwell "factory" way back when.

They wouldn't have been water damaged if Barry didn't have them in his door pocket while driving his Mk.4 in the rain. Anyway, it might be fair to assume that this is the same car.

THE TEST OF TIME.

With the runaway concours winner this year it was really hard to find a flaw. But did you know that Peter completed the restoration over 10 years ago. Here's some shots of the car at the Leyburn Sprints and Mt. Coot-tha Hillclimb in 2009.

I'm looking forward to seeing it come to live in SA in 2 year's time.
Here it is on a farm in Elgindale, Qld before Peter bought it.
