John Edwards Davies 1944 - 2012.
I feel awful about John's passing. So how must Diane and their kids and grandkids feel? Not to mention his friends in the MGCCQ and the Queensland Fire Brigade. Another victim of the Big C. He knew it was coming and only 2 or 3 weeks ago he was arranging for a friend to take moulds of the bonnet vents on his B8/26 so that I could use them on mine. John was Mr. Mt. Cotton Hillclimb, competitor, official, organiser and working bee stalwart. Miss you already John.

Bits and pieces
Steve Rowley has found a Morris Minor fuel tank for his Mark 4 so everybody can stop looking now. Meanwhile, Tony Briton wouldn't mind locating a Jag rear end for his up-coming Nagari project. Ikara #4 has been sold and has gone to Queensland. Two brothers up there now have an Ikara each.

I presume this is where the 116 chassis plate has gone.
It was listed for sale on Graham's NSW website for ages. I wonder if it sold.
It uses a Fibrecar space frame so that means there could still be a chassis floating around somewhere for the yellow coupe body.

McArlus Cars - 33
Just
a short update, after a long
absence, due to a small fire and as a consequence a lack of
motivation and the birth of a baby daughter.
Anyway
last Sunday the car went to Winton for the third round of the Benalla
Club Sprint Series.
Car
performed really well, and I took my first class win in the clubman
class, but I will do a full article later.
Attached
are some pictures taken by Neil Hammond, a semi professional
photographer (I hope that’s right Neil!) who takes and sells
pictures. He has been a regular at these sprints in the past and his
pictures always look great. I have a couple on my wall.
Fortunately
he is a fan of my car, and has graciously sent me a few he took on
Sunday.
Keen
eyes may even notice the outline of the fireproof balaclava in the
visor of the helmet, nothing like a small fire to get you thinking!

Kapunda - week 51.
This is a Studebaker President. It's a local car (well, it lives in Tarlee, but that's just down at the other end of the Kapunda-Tarlee Road) and it's his daily driver. See, you don't have to go to Cuba to see these things getting around. It runs on gas, the owner is an LPG installer. Put your thumbs over the front and rear guards and the middle bit looks like the early Larks. Probably the same anyway.

Anyway, this is the MX-5 GT.
Making its debut at Goodwood FoS last weekend it took part in the hillclimb. 205bhp and is a mere normally aspirated 2-litre. It sounds good to me and I'll look forward to seeing the first one arrive on our shores.
