Bond Equipe

This is a Bond Equipe. You can see the Triumph Herald base in the doors, windscreen, scuttle etc. The Equipe is the first 4-wheeler Bond made. Their factory was closed down after Reliant took them over.
Anyway, we were talking about Duane in the previous post. Duane has a Bond Equipe (see below) and he's making good progress on its restoration although that progress recently stalled when his partner injured herself, doubling the parenting duties among other things. The engine is siezed, overdrive gearbox needs a rebuild, there's substantial rust in the floor to repair, plus the fibreglass.
These last two photos were taken after Norm had begun to tackle some repairs to the rear body. Always chasing a deal, Norm is helping with some glass work in exchange for some design/CAD work on his new car.
Why a Bond Equipe? It wasn't intentional. Duane fished it out of that huge wrecking yard in Port Wakefield about 5 years ago. He couldn't leave it there could he? It's a bit like an NSU Prinz I'd like to rescue from a wrecking yard in Ebenezer.

NSU Prinz? Not the one parked in Heinze's yard? The poor thing. I nearly bought a Prinz off Tony Cullen's Minifix for my first car, but fell for a Fiat 500 instead.

Thanks for the nod John. I might add that the first Equipe was Herald based, thus a 4-cylinder. There's a couple around, notably one in Sydney in the hands of a Buchanan owner. Mine is a Vitesse based 2-Litre GT, a 6-cylinder version. I'd love to know if there's another in Australia. This one lived in One Tree Hill most of its life, but that's all I know of its history prior to arriving at Port Wakefield.

  2. Yes, the one at Heintze's. It's under cover and in resonable condition. He says he's going to do something with it but it'll never happen. He and his brother, Hedley, have too many Holdens to mess around with. I make Dudley offers when I see him and he says one day he'll give in. Thet'll be the day I've got no money. But in addition to that there's a Prinz body sitting on a tree stump.

  3. The race against the time, cannot be chased using cars. Time is precious so buy fastest car and save your time driving the car. I like Eu Neuwagen cars which are very fast and had great attraction with there stylish model.

  4. And while on the subject of Triumph Heralds, does anybody know where one would go to pick up a pair of lower wishbones to replace some very bent ones that have been repaired many times?

  5. Eu Fahrzeuge - are you saying I won't pick up girls with my Bond? The wife will be pleased.

John - Vanguard Triumph Wholesalers probably will have some...unless you want to swap a slightly used Bond for a slightly used Bolwell?
